White Face Classic Sale

Hello fellow Hereford Breeders and enthusiasts

We hope that calving 2019 is going well.

The East-Central Ontario Hereford Zone will once again be managing the White Face Classic sale on May 11, 2019 at the Lindsay Fairgrounds. This will be the 9th annual sale and it has become one that is eagerly anticipated by 4-H members looking for their 4-H projects and farmers looking to add new genetics to their herds.

We are extending an invitation to all Hereford breeders and to anyone who has straight-bred Herefords or Hereford influenced animals to consider consigning an animal(s) to this sale.   We ask that Hereford influenced animals be at least 50% Hereford, and that either their sire or dam are purebred Hereford, but not necessarily registered.  The cattle do not need to be halter broke, as we do have pens available. If you wish to consign to the sale, please let one of the committee members know as soon as possible and have the animal(s) footnotes & pedigree, if available, sent in by March 11, 2019.   We also ask for $100/lot be included with the animal information.  This amount will be deducted from the commission upon the sale of the animal.  This money will not be refunded if the animal is not brought to the sale, however substitutions are allowed.

We will be promoting the White Face Classic sale at the East Central Farm Show, Lindsay ON, on March 6 & 7, 2019 as well as in various farming publications.   Our goal is to have sale catalogues available on the OHA website and to have them available at the OHA AGM, being held in Peterborough on April 5 & 6, 2019.  Again this year, for $25/item, you can have business card size ad or include a black & white photo of your consignment(s) included in the catalogue. The sale catalogues will be mailed to the OHA members, buyers and consignors from previous years.

Please contact anyone on the White Face Classic sale committee if you have any questions or to consign an animal.

Announcement – Secretary/Manager Position

The OHA Board of Directors are pleased to advise everyone that we have hired Glenna Stephenson as our new Secretary Manager. The hiring committee feels comfortable and confident that she can fit this position. Glenna is very excited and enthused, and will be coming to the Royal Thursday as well as Saturday to get an introduction to the OHA and to meet as many people as she can.
Looking forward to a great Royal!

DreamTeam entry #7

This is it, the final entry to our Dream Team.  Only a few days left for you to make a decision of which one you would choose if you are fortunate enough to have your name selected.

Lucky lady #7, comes to us from CharSha Farm.

Charsha Flora has been a great addition to our show string this year. She is s powerful female but still is feminine, long and smooth throughout. This is the type of heifer we want to keep on our farm, but we wanted to give someone the opportunity to have this amazing animal.

DreamTeam entry #6

Just over a week away from the OHA DreamTeam selection!  Have you checked out all of the entries so far?  There are still two more to consider…here is bull calf, perhaps your future herd sire, entered by Concordia Herefords

We at Concordia Herefords are very excited to be a part of the Dream Team Event for the first time.   Concordia 128B Diego 7F is a future herd sire in the making. He is out of A-Lynn Bring It Home 128B, our senior herd sire.  Diego’s  dam Fox 804 Daisy 1A is one of our foundation females, sired by Cash Advance. She has never failed us, consistently producing and raising beautiful calves,  and has an almost flawless udder. Both Diego’s sire and dam are now eligible for nomination to receive Gold Awards through the Canadian Hereford Association. Diego is long spined, deep ribbed, and has an incredible stride. He has enjoyed a very successful first season in the show ring…take Diego home and see what he can do for you both in the pasture and in the show pen!
